Lesson of the Day

Well what to say, life teaches you something every moment. Whats the big deal - a wiser guy might say; but to yours truly it is. My lesson of the day - Japanese food can be tasty. Forgive me for that lame one. But I learnt this in a very novel way. My idea of Jap food was limited to SHUSHI and HIBACHI style of cooking. What I could not explain is why even after being a born fan of Chinese and Thai cusiine was I not able to bring myself to like Jap food. Well maybe it was my taste buds tricking me into this. But today I happened to taste something that left a great aftertaste - Chicken Teriyaki. Mind blowing! Something that will stay with me as has Green Curry, Padthai and Gen. Tso's Chicken.
For the uninitiated, Teriyaki is a cooking style/technique used in Japanese cuisine, wherein the ingredients are broiled or grilled in a sweet soy sauce marinade (tare in Japanese).
Its not tough to prepare and the simple dish can really work wonders on the dining table.A little scouting in the grocery stores led me to another wonder - Salmon Teriyaki. Smoked salmon in teriyaki. A couple of minutes in the oven and Viola - you have it. In fact Teriyaki in its orginal form is supposed to be prepared with Fish while the various meat Teriyakis are more populare in the West.
Well I guess I can never have too much of Teriyaki. for now.
So long
